Medal to participant ratio was highest in 1900 (200%) fo llowed by 2012 (7.23%). In 2016 it stayed at 1.71%.

India's ranking has deteriorated over the past decades.

2012 was the best year in the history of Indian Olympics performance with 6 awards.

Field hocky won maximum medals (11) which forms 89% of the total medals followed by wrestling (5) and shooting (4).

Field hocky also won maximum gold medals 8 followed by shooting 1.

Shooting and wrestling won maximum number of silver medals whereas wrestling won maximum number of bronze medals.
